SKM awarded construction management project at Collahuasi

The projects firm, Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM) has been awarded a key construction management project for Compania Minera Dona Ines de Collahuasi, a joint venture of Anglo American, Xstrata Copper and a consortium of Japanese companies, JCR. Phil Lory, SKM’s General Manager of Mining and Metals said “The contract for the construction management (CM) services for the semi-mobile Rosario crusher transfer project stage I was secured through competitive bidding against other major international engineering companies, and reinforces SKM’s thriving business and growing reputation in South America.” Lory continued to say “This award confirms the relevance of our engineering and project delivery expertise in large crushing systems and materials handling project in South America.”

The construction work will require preparation of a final platform for the Rosario crusher and discharge silo, dismantling the crushing system, moving them to their permanent foundations, demolition of the abandoned foundations, clearing the area and facilitating storage of surplus equipment. The transfer of the semi-mobile crusher Rosario will take approximately 11 months.
