GE Transportation celebrated a significant milestone with the roll out of its 500th Minecruiser vehicle. An Mk7.0 TIER 3 Minecruiser, the latest version of underground coal mining transporters, will be delivered to Centennial Coal, which fields 24 of the vehicles. Developed to transport up to 14 coal mining personnel underground, the MK7.0 TIER 3 Minecruiser includes and advanced explosion-protection system and also reduces emissions and increases power output with mechanically injected diesel engine technology.
Dan Shelley, Integration Leader at GE Mining said “We continue to bring enhanced safety and productivity solutions to customers through production of best-in-class mining equipment and services.”
The Minecruiser was introduced by Industrea, a company acquired by GE Mining in November 2012 for $700 million. The acquisition, which included equipment manufacturing and servicing operations in Australia and China, has allowed GE Mining to offer more efficient, highly productive and low-emission equipment to its global mining customers.
