FLSmidth wins third big project in India in just a few months – a coal handling system

Posted on 30 Oct 2009

FLSmidth has been awarded a contract worth approximately €35 million from Coastal Gujarat Power – a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power – for the supply and construction of a coal handling system for the company’s Ultra Mega Power Plant project in the state of Gujarat, India. Tata Power is India’s largest private power utility. The scope of the supply includes a complete coal handling system to convey coal from a jetty to a stockpile and from there to the power plant.

The system has a 6,800 t/h stockpiling capacity and 4,500 t/h reclaiming capacity. Apart from one of the world’s largest bucket wheel stacker-reclaimers for coal, the system also includes a series of conveyors of high speed and high capacity.

FLSmidth has previously received two material handling orders from Tata Power. The first came in 2006 and was followed by another in 2008.
