Downer Blasting Services (DBS) awarded $230 million in contract extensions

DBS has been awarded a three year contract extensions with Yamcoal Australia, Sojitz and Saracen Mineral Holdings, each comprising of complete down-the-hole services. The award of these contracts covers further extensions at the existing operations of Moolarben, Yarrabee and Ashton as well as the additional site of Duralie.

DBS has loaded over 80,000 t of explosives at Yancoal sites without a single lost time injury since the first contract in 2006. DBS also secured contract extensions at Sojitz’s Minerva Mine and Saracen#s Carosue Dam Mine for the provision of down-the-hole services and product supply.

Grant Fenn, Chief Executive Officer of Downer said these contract renewals demonstrate DBS’s ability to build effective partnerships and deliver value for its customers. Fenn stated “This is the third renewal of some of our Yancoal and Sojitz contracts and the second renewal of our Saracen contract. This is a positive reflection on both the strength of our relationships with our customers and the quality of our service delivery. We are delighted to be continuing these successful partnerships for another three years.
