Presentations on a range of innovative products, solutions and services which will deliver increased productivity and efficiency for the mining industry will be a highlight of the final day of AIMEX 2013, on Friday, August 23 in Sydney. One of three “theme days” during the exhibition, the AIMEX Productivity Day will focus on ways to increase mining productivity and profitability to ensure that operations are running at optimum efficiency. Topics to be covered will include case studies on successful process and asset optimisation, how to get increased production on existing sites, using automation to get more from equipment, increasing efficiency through fleet optimisation, and optimising production of hydraulic excavators and shovels. Attendance at these presentations is free of charge but will be strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
Presentations include Success stories in process and asset optimisation in the mining industry, to be presented by Ian Larsen, Intelligent Solutions Leader – Australia, GE Intelligent Platforms at GE Mining. This will discuss how a number of mining companies have successfully been using process and asset optimisation techniques to increase throughput and reliability, while simultaneously minimising energy costs and optimising maintenance activities. Increasing brownfield production will be presented by Andrew Crose, Sales and Marketing Manager, Modular Mining. Uncertainty in commodity prices means that getting the most from existing resources is more important than ever. Crose will discuss how operational changes can ensure miners are getting the most tonnage each and every operating hour from their existing workforce and equipment. Using your existing automation system to ‘sweat your assets’ is to be presented by Geoff Irvine, Industry Manager – Mining, Rockwell Automation. Irvine will look at ways of using existing automation systems on mining plant to drive greater throughput, lower costs, and better manage the asset base.
Increasing efficiency through fleet optimisation will be presented by Demetre Harris, Global Product Manager, Leica Geosystems Mining. Harris will look at how Leica Geosystems Mining’s Jigsaw fleet management system incorporates proven optimisation algorithms to optimise truck allocations for more efficient mine operation – including demonstrated increases in efficiency from the system in use at a working mine. Finally, Optimising hydraulic diggers is to be presented by Bruce Leslie, Engineering Manager, LC Engineering. Leslie will present on LC’s Titan production monitor, which uses sophisticated electronics and transducers to weigh each shovel bucket before it is dumped in the truck, and immediately forecasts how many remaining bucketloads are recommended to achieve the most efficient filling for the truck.
The other theme days during the exhibition are the AIMEX Women in Mining Day on Wednesday August 21, and the AIMEX Safety Day on Thursday August 22. Full details of all events on during AIMEX can be found at www.aimex.com.au/en/for-visitors/exhibition-highlights.
