Yokohama showing new tyres for underground mining

Posted on 10 Sep 2013

Yokohama Tire Corp (YTC) is going deep into the heart of America’s coal country to display new mining tyres. YTC will exhibit at the Bluefield Coal Show, September 11-13 at the Brushfork Armory-Civic Center in Bluefield, West Virginia. The Y67™ is shown here.  Tim Easter, YTC director, OTR sales says the 36-ply tough-tread Y67 44x15x20 is engineered for large shuttle cars, providing greater carrying capacity without having to change rims, and its wide footprint delivers an improved ride and longer tyre life.

“The Bluefield Coal Show is held every two years and is the top regional show for underground mining in the country,” said Easter. “It’s perfect locale to highlight our new mining tyres to the coal industry.”

The other new tyre is Y20™: According to Easter, Yokohama’s new 36-ply heavy-duty Y20 39x15x20 is ideal for scoops and coal haulers needing heavy weight carrying capacity in a 39-in tall tyre. “It also allows for the replacement of a 15-in rim with a heavy-duty 20-in rim for better durability and extra room around the hub. This promotes cooler running brakes, and better access and torque on the lug bolts.” Easter added the rugged Y20 was developed to take large shuttle cars down to lower levels, enabling access to deeper coal seams while still offering great carrying capacity.
