Osborn has received a record number of orders for its machines this year, including 27 new apron feeders to be fabricated and delivered during the course of 2010. Orders include 21 new apron feeders for an iron ore mine expansion in the Northern Cape of South Africa, four machines for a gold mine in Mali, one for a coal operation in Turkey and two new apron feeders for a copper mine in the DRC.

The feeders for the iron ore mine expansion in the Northern Cape will be used in the second and third stage of the mine’s expansion, explains Scott. It has previously supplied 13 apron feeders for Phase 1 of the expansion, and Scott says the latest order is based on the success of these machines, as well as the client’s need for interchangeability of parts and spares.

Osborn Product Specialist, Francois Scott said these orders reflect the growing reputation of Osborn’s apron feeders as the machine of choice among customers in the African mining industry. A range of apron feeders is offered, available in sizes from 900 mm to 3,500 mm wide.

In addition to apron feeders, Osborn is also taking orders for other machines, including large screens, a range of jaw crushers and cone crushers and various other vibrating feeders. “Despite the economic downturn, we achieved a record number of machine sales during the past year,” notes Marketing Director Martin Botha.
