Two men walk away unharmed after 2 t rock slab falls on machine

Posted on 13 Nov 2013

In September, a standard option from MacLean Engineering possibly saved the lives of two underground hard rock miners. Thanks to the safety canopy mounted on the work platform of the MacLean Engineering machine they were working from, Bobbie Caissie Jr. and Clayton Kitchkeesick returned safe from working a night shift at Musselwhite mine, 500 km north of Thunder Bay, Ontario. They were loading explosives from the basket on the MacLean AC3 ANFO charger when a large slab of rock detached itself from above and fell on the canopy. If Goldcorp and MacLean Engineering had not joined forces to design and implement this engineered canopy, these valued workers may have suffered severe or even fatal injuries.
