Mineral resources and mine development under discussion at AIMS forum

This year’s Aachen International Mining Symposia (AIMS), to be held on May 26-27 in Germany, will provide a forum for presentation, discussion and evaluation of state-of-the-art and emerging technologies in the field of mineral resources and mine development. About 50 presentations by experts from Europe, Australia, Canada, India, Japan, Papua New Guinea and the USA will be shown, covering mineral resources and mine development. There will also be a special session by the European Technology Platform on Sustainable Mineral Resources (ETP SMR) on its contribution to the Raw Materials Initiative (RMI).

Particular topics for the mineral resources section include the identification of critical raw materials, demand and possible supply of critical raw materials and risk management with regard to a secure supply. Mine development will focus, not only on the physical development of projects, but also on preparatory and supporting issues.

AIMS is expecting about 370 participants and 30 exhibitors for the Third International Symposium Mineral Resources and Mine Development – Managing today’s resources – securing tomorrow’s supply.  The program can now be downloaded at www.aims.rwth-aachen.de

Organisers say they have attracted participation from high ranking experts as well as governmental representatives and CEOs of various companies. The event is sponsored by the ETP SMR, Becker Mining Systems and Hilti, in co-operation with RAG Deutsche Steinkohle & European Association of Mining Industries.
