With four months to go before it opens its gates, 381 exhibitors have now signed up to participate in Hillhead 2010 – the world’s biggest working quarry show, June 22-24 at Tarmac’s Hillhead quarry, near Buxton, England. Continuing demand for exhibit space throughout January and February has resulted in a complete sell-out of stands in the Main Pavilion, and plans are currently being put in place to extend the exhibition area within the Registration Pavilion. Likewise, strong demand for demonstration areas means that outdoor space is now also in very short supply with the few remaining slots filling up fast.

As usual, equipment for all sectors of the extractive industries will be on show in June, including excavators, trucks, wheel loaders, crushers, screens and more, together with a vast array of ancillary equipment, materials and services.

Since the last show in 2007, considerable development work has taken place at the exhibition site, particularly in the face demonstration area, where the splitting of the 24-m high quarry face and the creation of a new box cutting will improve and enhance the ‘live action’ loading and hauling demonstrations.

This year’s show will also provide the launch pad for the latest phase of the British HSE’s ‘Target Zero’ health and safety initiative. A number of high-profile speakers will be contributing to the launch, to which senior industry executives, union officials and others associated with the advancement of health and safety in the industry have been invited. The launch event will take place in the ‘Industry Information Village’ located in the centre of the Main Pavilion. New for 2010, this innovation will bring together a group of key industry organisations in a 200m2 open-plan stand area, so that visitors can obtain a information on a wide range of subjects from a single location.

The ‘village’ will comprise stands presented by The Institute of Quarrying, Institute of Asphalt Technology, Mineral Products Association (MPA), British Aggregates Association (BAA), Concrete Society, University of Derby, Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC) and Proskills.
