Copper miner Grupo Mexico Mining Company has taken delivery of its first Terex AC350/6 all terrain crane. Supplied by Megamak, the regional Terex Cranes distributor, it is currently on-site at the Cananea mine in Sonora, Mexico – one of the company’s 13 copper mines currently in operation – where its main tasks are moving and maintaining heavy mining equipment such as crushers, screeners, drilling machines and trucks. With a main boom length of 64 m, maximum system length of 126 m and a capacity class of 350 t, the 6-axle all terrain crane is fitted with the Terex LC-1 control system delivering intuitive operation via a touch screen interface. Grupo Mexico’s Operations Manager, Ing Armando Juarez commented: “In an industry that demands the highest levels of safety, we chose this crane not only for its capacity, reach and flexibility, but because of its safety features. The LC-1 control system makes lifting and rigging simple and efficient for our operators. They welcome how it maximises accuracy and speeds, and simplifies the way the crane works when handling even the most demanding of lifts.”
He added: “Rather than hiring each time, we wanted our own crane for more control and flexibility. The AC350/6 means we can respond quickly and effectively to the day-to-day demands of the business. We enjoy an excellent relationship with Megamak and they were extremely helpful and informative at every stage of the purchase. They were our preferred supplier from the start.” Megamak’s Ing Osvaldo Munguia Sanchez adds: “We are delighted to have supplied this crane to one of Mexico’s leading companies. We look forward to helping them maximise the crane’s productivity by providing local, responsive support.” One of the most compact 6-axle all terrain cranes in the 350 t capacity class currently available on the market, the Terex AC350/6 has “exceptional lifting capacity and operator safety” according to the manufacturer. Featuring a “state-of-the-art fall arrest system” for safe access during work at height and patented Terex Easy Luffing Jib Rigging System, the AC350/6 all terrrain crane enables fast, easy rigging and safety. Offering a maximum telescopic boom length of up to 64 m for a compact maximum system length of 125.7 m, this powerful, versatile 6-axle crane can out-lift the performance of larger cranes in the 400 t capacity class in a number of jobsite situations. Additional attachments can be loaded onto conventional trucks within a width of 2.55 m.
