Alloy Steel International says it “has developed the worlds best wear solutions for iron-ore processing. Arcoplate’s world patented manufacturing process guarantees hardness, micro-structure and surface finish of a far superior quality than any welded wear plate of similar composition. Field trials in iron ore processing show that in some cases Arcoplate will out perform welded wear plate of a similar metallurgical composition in terms of wear life up by up to eight times.
“Arcoplate is used successfully and extensively in installations including apron feeders, pan feeders, crusher liners, conveyor skirt liners, transfer chutes, cyclones, reclaimer buckets, train load out chutes, and loader liners.
Ore processing equipment that is subject to continuous sliding abrasion requires a product that will have the ability to withstand fine particle abrasion and gouging. QT steels are generally being used due to the low initial cost. However, those initial low cost savings with QT steels and weld type overlays are soon eroded through the high cost of down time and productivity losses.
Arcoplate says it “has demonstrated over and over that 1 mm of Arcoplate thermal bonded high chromium super alloy will generally out perform conventional weld overlay by two times and quench and tempered steels by six times.
