Stewart Group expands and relocates sample preparation laboratory in Liberia

Posted on 20 May 2010

Stewart Group, the international inspection, analysis and assaying group, has expanded and relocated its sample preparation laboratory in Monrovia, Liberia. The facility houses new equipment including dust control systems and the new Stewart Group Laboratory Information Management System. This technology will provide improved sample tracking and quality control for clients.

The new site has 232 m2 allowing for additional services and increased production of analysis techniques including crushing, pulverising, screening, moisture and drop tests. The building also houses additional, spacious rooms for future service solutions and Group developments.

Timothy Elliott, Managing Director – Geochemical & Assay, said of the expansion: “Stewart Group has been providing sample preparation solutions for gold, base metals and iron ore in Liberia for over five years. This new facility enables us to strengthen our service provision and increase capacity to accommodate for the high demand, providing complete service solutions as one of the best laboratories in West Africa.

“After many weeks of hard work and dedication from the group and our local team, we are delighted that the new laboratory is now ready to operate.”

The Liberian expansion follows the relocation of Stewart Group’s Yaounde, Cameroon Sample Preparation laboratory earlier this month, which has enabled Stewart Group to further enhance the quality of their services provided for gold, iron ore and base metals in the region.
