Anvil Mining has recently been accepted as a supporting member of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) – a scheme developed to improve the global visibility in the oil, gas and mining industries, with the aim of making natural resources a benefit to all. EITI is a coalition that sets a standard for companies and governments to publish and disclose monies paid and received.
Bill Turner, President and CEO commented: “The company will continue to develop its position as a catalytic partner in the development of the mining industry, our host communities and the government of the DRC. We fully endorse the EITI principles and believe them to be a mechanism which will directly contribute to the country’s wider development objectives. The DRC is currently an EITI candidate country and has until September 9, 2010 to submit a final validation report to the EITI Board. We feel that such an initiative can only serve to add value to a developing nation by increasing the attractiveness of the country as an investment destination and improving the reputation of the industry and the country.”
Anvil has also launched an updated website (www.anvilmining.com) which includes current information on the company’s activities, with a focus on the development of Kinsevere Stage II, a 60,000 t/y SX-EW copper plant in the DRC.
