Immersive Technologies’ simulators play major role in MCC Contracts strategic training program to improve operator proficiency

Posted on 10 Jun 2010

Immersive Technologies’ Advanced Equipment simulators have recently come under high praise – in February they were awarded first prize in the category of Machines & Products Display at the International Mining Exhibition in India. Now MCC Contracts (MCC) has followed the likes of BHP Billiton, Vale and Rio Tinto by strengthening its operator training program with the acquisition of several Advanced Equipment simulators from Immersive Technologies. The investment includes three base simulators and four Conversion Kits to support a range of equipment.

Each simulator is supported with a comprehensive customer support program to ensure maximum utilisation and MCC has taken a further step by utilising Immersive Technologies’ unique training systems integration program. With strong support by MCC, the company expects over 300 equipment operators to be trained and assessed on the Immersive Technologies’ advanced equipment simulators with the goal of improving operational skills and increasing site safety, productivity and reduced equipment maintenance.

MCC Group Training Manager, Pieter Page: “I am convinced that we are going to see financial benefits from the programme which we did not deem possible. The time has come for us to develop a very different breed of operator, and Immersive Technologies’ simulation technology is going to play a major role in achieving this objective.”

Immersive Technologies Regional Manager of East & Southern Africa, Anthony Bruce: “This is a strategic investment by MCC Contracts in order to maximise, measureable returns of mobile machinery & operators deployed across multiple mine sites. The simulators will greatly assist the company’s efforts in strategic workforce development improving safety and increasing site profitability.”
