Sandy Gray, Tim Hughes and Michael Braaksma, on behalf of Gekko Systems, were thrilled to receive a Premier’s Design Award for the company’s cutting edge Python plant last night. Victorian Innovation Minister, Gavin Jennings, presented the award on behalf of Premier John Brumby in an event at PIXEL – Australia’s first carbon neutral commercial building. “This year’s winners are a shining example of what clever thinking and good design can bring to the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of Victorians. Importantly, innovative thinking can create job opportunities for Victorian families,” Mr Jennings said.

The Python design is the result of many people contributing their excellent skills and innovative ideas and Gekko is extremely proud of their technical, engineering and drafting teams as this award recognises their excellence in the application of design.

“The Gekko team is passionate about this modular plant technology and it is a privilege to be recognised by such a prestigious award outside the manufacturing and mining sectors,” said Tim Hughes, Gekko’s Research and Development Manager. “The Python design is a radical invention that has the potential to impact on the global carbon footprint and significantly reduce overall mine operating costs, and it is the first plant that can be installed in a conventional 5 m x 5 m drive close to the mine face.” Gekko recognises the Australian Industry Group for their nomination and support for these awards.
