Knelson and Deswik International have reached a significant milestone in the world of fine grinding technology, concluding a transaction to form Vancouver-based Knelson Milling Solutions (KMS). KMS provides an integrated fine grind milling technology solution and will benefit from the 30 years of mining equipment experience and the global network of Knelson.KMS will be administered from Knelson’s office in Langley, Vancouver and a dedicated team of engineers will continue to enhance and further develop the fine grinding milling technology. The 8,000 m2 Knelson manufacturing facility will be used to manufacture the Knelson Deswik mill in Langley.
Initial developments have included the use of 3D modeling and FEA tools. KMS is also entering into partnered research studies with both the University of British Columbia (UBC) and McGill. UBC will focus on laboratory and pilot scale experimentation while McGill will analyse and model the fluid dynamics within the mill. The goal in both cases is to quantify how the fundamental design of the mill produces rapid particle size reduction with significant energy cost savings over its competitors.
Another benefit of the KMS joint venture is that it will enable good global support by leveraging Knelson’s extensive network of subsidiaries and independent representatives.
KMS will be presenting during the forthcoming Zimbabwe Mining Indaba, MiningWorld Central Asia 2010 and Electra Mining in Johannesburg. KMS is finalising the development of its new website and prospective clients can soon follow ongoing technology developments by visiting KMS on www.kelsonmillingsolutions.com.
