Posted on 17 Sep 2010

Atlas Copco Central Asia, Kazakhstan, has received a mining equipment order from Kazakhmys Group, valued at SEK243 million. The order is one of the largest ever for Atlas Copco’s Construction and Mining Technique business area and is for underground equipment; drill rigs, loaders and trucks. The equipment will be used in three different mines in the Zhezkazgan area in Kazakhstan.

“We have increased our presence in the mining industry in Kazakhstan – both underground and in surface mining – over the past two years,” says Björn Rosengren, Business Area President of Atlas Copco Construction & Mining Technique. “This order is a clear sign of the strong relationship we have built with Kazakhmys during this time.”

The Zhezkazgan complex is an important area of Kazakhmys Group, an international natural resources company, listed in the UK and Kazakhstan. Kazakhmys Group has its principal operations in Kazakhstan and the surrounding region. Kazakhmys is the largest copper producer in Kazakhstan and in the top ten worldwide.
