New Mine Boss from Australian Pump

Posted on 4 Feb 2015

A new heavy duty 3 in trash pump designed for the construction and mining market has been released by Australian Pump Industries. Called the Aussie Mine Boss, the QP40T pump meets mining specifications. The company said that the new pump was inspired by Australian Pump staff seeing equipment used in mines like trash pumps and generators with mangled or bent frames, as conventional trash pumps are not built for the rigours of minesites. The new “Mine Boss” features a large 38 mm, hot dip galvanised frame with separate sub-base and anti-vibration mounts. The frame incorporates a balanced lifting bar.

“Everyone knows that on any site moving a pump manually just doesn’t happen. Using whatever convenient plant is available, front end loader bucket or excavator, is more practical and usually avoids health and safety issues,” said Aussie Pumps’ Dean Fountain. The pump comes complete with fire extinguisher and emergency stop. A dry cell battery with lockable isolation is standard. The Mine Boss pumps 1,200 litres per minute (lpm) of solid laden liquids in its diesel configuration. It has a maximum head of 30 m direct vertical lift. Suction capability is 7.6 m enabling the pump to draught water from pits, wells or leachate ponds. The pump is designed to self-prime quickly and easily and will pass solids in suspension with ease.

The standard drive unit for the big 3 in pump is a Yanmar 10 hp electric start diesel engine. “We chose a Yanmar as the main power for this unit because of the terrific aftermarket support from Yanmar dealerships throughout the world,” explained Fountain, “and the 10 hp engine gives us loads of power.” Like the other models in the Aussie range of QP self-priming centrifugal pumps, the big 3 ft trash pump is backed by an exclusive, free, extended five year warranty; and the warranty is not qualified by usage, meaning no penalties for mine, hire or construction applications.
