BioteQ Environmental Technologies, a leader in the treatment of industrial waste water, has received the Business Excellence Award for Outstanding Innovation and Best Practice, from the Canada China Business Council. BioteQ entered the China market in 2006 through a joint venture with Jiangxi Copper Company, China’s largest copper producer.
Since that time, the joint venture has designed and built two water treatment plants at the Dexing mine, to recover dissolved copper from mine drainage and enhance the environmental performance of the mine site.
The award recognises the success of BioteQ’s strategies in the China market, and the impact of the China market on the company’s competitive edge and financial performance. A third water treatment plant is currently under construction at the Dexing mine, to recover cobalt and nickel. The joint venture agreement identifies six potential sites where BioteQ’s clean technologies can be applied, and the joint venture partners are actively reviewing additional projects for future development.
