Sempertrans partners with ConvaTech in Australia on mining conveyor belts

Posted on 20 Nov 2015

Sempertrans, the conveyor belt business segment of Austrian based Semperit Group, has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Australia’s ConvaTech. The exclusive sales and distribution agreement for Sempertrans conveyor belts for the Australian market was signed in Newcastle, Australia. Thomas Fahnemann, Semperit’s CEO and Peter Slattery, ConvaTech’s Chairman expressed their excitement about their new business partnership, “combining Sempertrans’ first tier conveyor belt technology and extensive product portfolio with ConvaTech’s premium service offering to Australian mining and industrial sites.”

By teaming up with Sempertrans, ConvaTech, which is the leading Australian conveyor maintenance services provider, is able to complement its existing range of quality products with Sempertrans’ heavy duty textile and steel cord conveyor belts. In recent years, Sempertrans says it has continuously extended its global market footprint by winning new customers. Boris Illetschko, Sempertrans General Manager, said he was “thrilled the company is now able to offer in Australia its conveyor belt products through such a capable and reputable partner like ConvaTech.” He added that “Sempertrans reputation in conveyor belt design and materials research and development, leads the global market with the highest quality conveyor belt products, standards and customer service. The Sempertrans product range offering for the Australian market will include the complete package of steel cord, textile and solid woven heavy duty belt constructions for surface and underground, fire resistant and anti-static FRAS applications, across all market sectors. This package will be price competitive and a high quality alternative for customers in the Australian market.”

Due to the large Australian mining industry, the continent is one of the biggest and most demanding conveyor belt markets worldwide. The numerous mining sites as well as the port facilities, which rank among the largest and busiest bulk handling facilities in the world, drive the market growth. Sempertrans will supply the Australian market from selected sites across its four production plants in Poland, France, India and China. Out of its nine locations across Australia, ConvaTech will supply Sempertrans conveyor belts “and continue to provide its exceptional service to the Australian mining and industrial companies with bulk conveying needs.”
