Geovariances expands geostatistical capabilities technically and geographically

Posted on 21 Dec 2010

Geovariances has acquired the Australian geostatistical resource evaluation and consulting company Tenzing and therefore has established a Geovariances office in Brisbane, Queensland. “We are excited about opening this new office in the southern hemisphere which our customers overseas have been expecting for a long time”, Geovariances CEO Yves Touffait said. “Indeed, despite the thousands of kilometres which separate both countries, Australia is the leading mining market for Geovariances and one of our objectives is to keep on developing the close relationship we have with our customers in Australia and surrounding countries.”

By acquiring Tenzing, Geovariances is not only able to now offer a local presence in the Asia-Pacific region, but it also adds to Geovariances services Tenzing’s expertise in applying geostatistics in an industrial context. The delivery of the services that Geovariances currently provides worldwide from France, that is software technical support, consulting, training and mentoring, will be strengthened locally. “This will improve our understanding of, and strengthen our exchanges with our customers in the region”, according to Touffait.

Following the acquisition, previous Tenzing Director and Principal Zach Casley, will become the General Manager of Geovariances Pty, and Olivier Bertoli, also a Tenzing Director and Principal, will be Geovariances Consulting and Training Manager for the Mining sector, based in France.

“We are delighted to be joining forces with Geovariances, a company with which we have had a close partnership for many years”, Casley said. “By combining Geovariances and Tenzing’s professional expertise in consulting, with Geovariances software and training offer, this new office will provide the clients in the region with an option for geostatistical consulting and software which has not been available locally before”.

The acquisition of Tenzing is part of Geovariances development strategy aimed at extending its international representation to help promoting its product and services on a local basis.
