Over 850 local and international exhibitors from the mining, industrial, electrical and power industries will be showcasing their products and services across 38,000m² net space of indoor/outdoor exhibition area at Electra Mining Africa, say the organisers. Taking place from September 12-16 at the Expo Centre in Johannesburg, the trade exhibition “will provide the local mining and related industries with a valuable platform for engagement, collaboration, interaction and networking.”
The largest trade show in Southern Africa and ranked as one of the world’s largest mining shows, Electra Mining Africa has long been a premier networking event. “Many of our exhibitors will be launching new products at the show and there will be daily live demonstrations of machinery and equipment, interactive product displays, simulation booths and technical presentations,” says Gary Corin, Managing Director of Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery, organisers of the show.
Local engineering solutions organisation, SureGO!, will be displaying one of its first-ever, uniquely built, flexible walkway bridges at Electra Mining Africa. “We are thrilled to display this exciting and unique innovation at the exhibition. Visitors will see the world’s first safe and floating bridge prototype that was designed and tested at the harbour mouth in Richards Bay in 2014. The flexible and floating bridge was put to test for two months to see if it can endure strong storms and adjust to the ever-changing tides,” says Tex Neveling, owner of SureGO! Neveling patented the flexible bridge solution in 2010 and SureGO! specialises in three types of bridges, namely: SureGO! Walk, SureGO! Drive and SureGO! Utility.
“What makes our bridges unique is that they provide the ideal solution to safely move from point A to point B, be it through walking or driving, over shifting surfaces. Our bridges prove to be a safe passage in areas with fluctuating currents, tides or water levels as well as in swamp and marsh areas with sludge and sand. SureGO! designed bridges change position and adapt according to the ever-changing environment, while ensuring continuous flooring and hand rail protection,” adds Neveling. SureGO! will showcase a model of their flexible walkway bridge at Electra Mining Africa where visitors will be able to walk on the bridge and take a closer look at the intricacies of this invention.
Kal Tire’s Mining Tire Group, a world leader in mining tire management and supply, will be showcasing several of its newest innovations designed to help maximise tyre life and productivity in Hall 5 at Electra Mining Africa. Award-winning Ultra Repair™, a new recycling solution, will be among the developments showcased by the international mining tyre specialists.
Processing errors in machines generally create excessive cost and lost production time. The situation becomes all the more serious if there is a lack of machine data and production parameters for analysing processing errors and avoiding such errors in the future. Beckhoff Automation will be at Electra Mining Africa in Hall 7 to talk about the new TwinCAT Analytics tool which can be used to rectify this information deficit by storing all process-relevant data in a cycle-synchronous manner. Data is stored in a standardised process data format with data compression, either locally in the controller, in a cloud-based solution on a server in the company network, or in a Public Cloud, as required. TwinCAT Analytics provides a complete temporal image of the process and the production data. This offers an ideal information baseline, not only to assist in the event of an error, but also to enable comprehensive condition analysis of the machine, among other functions. The recorded process and production data can be analysed online or offline, and machine cycles can be examined for minimum, maximum and average values of the cycle times.
In Hall 6, MMD will be showcasing its innovative ways to improve mining efficiency and lower emissions, “delivering on its promise of providing truly Green Mining Solutions.” The focus will be on the MMD twin shaft mineral sizer which is a compact, high capacity and versatile machine capable of handling wet, sticky or hard material either separately or together. To complement the mineral sizer MMD has created a range of equipment such as a heavy duty apron plate feeder. The MMD feeder has rolled plates, a unique feature for a feeder, which ensures minimum spillage through the plates to efficiently deliver material for processing with mobile, semi mobile and static In-Pit Sizing & Conveying (IPSC) units to offer the ultimate sizing solution. The use of IPSC systems enables the use of conveyors for the long haul of material out of the mine, which in conjunction with fully mobile units eliminates the use of trucks for the long haulages. The more popular semi mobile semi mobile designs using short haul truck and shovel systems keeps haulage to a minimum and again uses conveyors for the long haul.
On display in Hall 7 at Electra Mining Africa will be Major Tech’s range of industrial digital multimeters that comply with safety standards and are perfect for the electrical and industrial industry. Visitors will be able to see the company’s easy to use and affordable thermal imaging cameras to obtain high quality thermal images and information. Major Tech will also be showcasing new and improved products that offer quality and affordability to their clients. Visitors to the show will experience live presentations at the stand and will also have the opportunity to win some big prizes.
