Krasnoyarsk is the largest economic and cultural center of Siberia, an administrative center of Krasnoyarsk Region (the second area of the Russian Federation). It is situated on both banks of Yenisey River, delineating the border between West and East Siberia.

There will be a technical tour to the Borodino surface mine, a coal mining complex in Krasnoyarsk. It is owned and operated by Siberian Coal Energy Co (SUEK). Borodino surface mine was commissioned under the design of SPb-Giproshakht and came into operation in December 1949 with a production capacity of 1 Mt/y of coal. The years since 1953 have seen many expansion stages and its annual capacity has now risen to 29 Mt coal.
