MDM Engineering has completed work on First Uranium’s, Mine Waste Solutions (MWS) Phase 2 project, 1 month ahead of schedule, within budget and successfully achieving 1 million LTI (Lost Time Injury) free hours in November 2010. This was the final phase of the capital expansion program which saw the Phase 2 module treating 650,000 t/month of reclaimed tailings. The project included a reclamation station pumping the material 10 km to a CIL and elution plant, as well as all adjoining infrastructure. In addition, the plant includes detoxification circuits for all three CIL module tailings and disposal to a combined new tailings storage facility.
Martin Smith, MDM CEO said:”MDM is proud to have achieved construction completion and the start of commissioning one month ahead of the planned schedule. This can be contributed to the hard work of both MDM and the owners team, a great milestone for the project”.
