Layflat Hose will showcase its large-diameter layflat hose, its complementary power-driven hose winders and reels, along with pump pontoons on Stand SL141 during AIMEX – Asia-Pacific’s mining exhibition, to be held at Sydney’s Olympic Park, Homebush, from September 6-9. Suited to a wide range of fluid types, Layflat’s hose is designed to enable fast deployment and rapid, high-volume dewatering for mining. It can also provide a convenient means of transferring water from wastewater ponds and lagoons.The hoses are available in 150 to 300 mm diameters with a maximum flow rate of 300 litres a second. According to the company, benefits of large-diameter layflat hose include low-volume coil, deployment and retrieval without fusion welding, conformation to undulating and rough terrain, and availability in continuous lengths of 200 m-plus. They are said to be easy to repair and UV stabilised.
The hose are made from either PVC, polyurethane or nitrate rubber, with a woven textile fabric based on high-tenacity polyester to ensure consistent high-pressure ratings.
Layflat Hose’s hose winders incorporate generators and high-torque electric motors as well as high-pressure spray washers for cleaning and decontaminating recovered hose.
The winders include power-driven skid-mounted and trailer-mounted models with Layflat Hose designing and engineering the winders for a range of terrains and operational requirements from landfill deployment units to waste water hose deployment.
Featured at AIMEX will be the company’s dual-reel, trailer-mounted winder for transporting, storing, laying and retrieving layflat hose. Each reel can operate independently and can handle 100 m of 200 mm of hose while the trailer has two Italian electric motors and an onboard diesel generator. The unit is compliant with RTA and mine regulations.
Also featured on Layflat Hose Company’s AIMEX stand will be pump pontoons for industrial, sludge pond, mining, sewerage, desludging and wastewater applications.
The pontoons have a high structural-strength box steel upper framework, with a hot-dip galvanised finish, and are bolted to modular, foam-filled HDPE floats with heavy-duty, corrosion-resistant fasteners while the pump unit is housed in a frame that drops directly into the pontoon deck, allowing for easy pump removal or exchange.
“Our floating platforms can be used as pumping pontoons for water removal, pit and quarry dewatering, water supply or solids removal,” company representative Andrew Bastek said.
“And due to their unique design and weighted keel they have outstanding stability in water as well as roll over resistance.”
Customised flotation platforms are also available from the company.
