Ecotech Australia will demonstrate systems for monitoring vibration and overpressure from blasting activities, dust control and water analysis on Stand H1187 during AIMEX – Asia-Pacific’s Mining Exhibition 2011, to be held at Sydney’s Olympic Park, Homebush, from September 6-9. Ecotech’s Blast Monitoring System is a web-based blast monitoring and reporting service, while its real-time Dust Control Management System is used by most major Australian mining companies.The Blast Monitoring System consistently captures all blast data and, within minutes of a blast, automatically notifies authorised staff of the results by SMS and/or email. Blast results can also be downloaded from a website for further processing and viewed at any time via any internet-aware device. Both portable and permanently mounted versions are available for purchase, lease or rental, and Ecotech supplies all necessary hardware and services. The company also audits every blast waveform and performs daily checks to ensure all units in the field are operating correctly. Data results are available for up to six weeks after a blast, even if there was no automatic trigger.
“Ecotech’s blast monitoring solution allows mine operators to focus on mining and blasting as Ecotech supplies, installs, operates and maintains all equipment and captures, verifies and reports all blast data,” Ecotech’s Ashlea King, Customer Sales and Support, said. “Consequently, the time involvement of site staff is substantially reduced.”
AIMEX will also see Ecotech showcase its Dust Control Management System, which major miners such as Rio Tinto uses in its 10 operational WA mines, as well as its ports at Dampier and Cape Lambert. “Ecotech’s Dust Control Management System has taken dust monitoring to a new dimension,” Ashlea said. “The system uses live, accurate information about dust sources, enabling prompt dust suppression at the right source, which in turn dramatically reduces or eliminates excess dust in surrounding areas.”
Another highlight of Ecotech’s AIMEX stand will be the new Tethys UV500 online water analyser. The UV500 can measure the main pollutants in water (such as organic matter, nitrates, colour, hydrocarbons, ammonia and H2S) in one single enclosure using UV-Vis spectroscopy. It can also scan a sample between 180mm and 800mm in order to measure a pollutant in a complex matrix. Advantages of the UV500 include reliability, stability, low operating costs, low maintenance and measuring times of less than 10 seconds for most parameters.
