The chairman and programme chairs for MINExpo International 2008, the mining industry’s premier technology and services showcase, were named at NMA’s recent spring board of directors meeting, as the industry begins final preparations for what is set to be a record-breaking exhibition.
Tim Sullivan, President & CEO of Bucyrus International, will serve as chairman of MINExpo 2008, scheduled for September 22-24, 2008, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Doug Hardman, President and COO of J.H. Fletcher, and Raja Upadhyah, President of Pincock, Allen & Holt, have been named programme co-chairmen and will be responsible for developing MINExpo’s education sessions.
“Previous MINExpo shows have benefited from strong industry leadership, and I am proud to say that the 2008 show continues that tradition with Tim, Doug and Raja at the helm,” said NMA President and CEO Kraig R. Naasz. “I am also pleased to report that 82% of available exhibition space for the 2008 show has already been sold, putting us well ahead of our pace for the 2004 show,” said Naasz. “With our leadership in place and record breaking sales continuing, MINExpo 2008 promises to be one of our most successful shows.”
Education sessions for the 2008 show will be held September 23 and 24 and will run about two hours in duration and may include up to four presenters. MINExpo education sessions focus on topics and ideas that mining personnel can apply to resolve operational challenges, improve safety and increase productivity. Sessions will likely include discussions on surface mining, underground mining, processing, safety and health, exploration, bulk materials handling, new mine development, air, industrial minerals, coal and reclamation. Those interested in presenting at a MINExpo education session can submit presentation abstracts via MINExpo’s web site at: www.minexpo.com/conferencepapers.htm. All presentation abstracts must be received by June 30, 2007, to be considered for inclusion in the education sessions.
“Given strong exhibit pace of sales, those interested in exhibiting at MINExpo should finalize their plans as soon as possible,” said Naasz.
