Powertrans will showcase haulage systems that it says offer the mining industry lower-cost, higher-productivity haulage alternatives to conventional large mining trucks on Stand B1097 during AIMEX, to be held at Sydney’s Olympic Park, Homebush, from September 6-9. The Australian-owned company uses its PowertruckTM and PowertrailerTM systems (patented) to combine Powertrans’ prime movers, powered trailers, tow trailers and dollies in a ‘road train’ combination. These can haul payloads of up to 400 t and are described by the company as efficient, flexible and cost-effective haulage systems that offer more capacity and higher productivity without compromising safety.
“Powered trailers are used to give excellent power-to-weight ratios, relatively high haul speeds over long distances, and faster hauls up inclines out of underground mines or mining pits,” Powertrans’ Howard Wilson said.
Brisbane-based Powertrans was established in 2001 to manufacture powered trailers for surface and underground mining applications. Its two key product families, the Powertrans Underground Mining Haulage and Surface Mining Haulage systems had proven tough, reliable products that performed well in even the most demanding conditions, Wilson said.
“And being based on readily available off-the-shelf heavy-duty equipment and components, they do not have the ‘mining premium’ price tag,” he said.
