Dassault Systèmes’ GEOVIA has announced that Surpac 6.9 has been released. This new release introduces the Structural Suite module, a set of visualisation and analysis tools for any kind of oriented data, and the powerful collaboration and data management capabilities of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform as well as over 30 customer-requested enhancements and product quality improvements.
The Structural Suite Module allows uses to extract and visualise orientations directly from drillholes, points and block models; as well as analyse surface gradients and structural trends in large and complex datasets. They can a perform rapid structural analysis of point cloud and photogrammetry datasets and digitise structural planes directly from surface or point cloud. Users can also selectively display structural information on a stereone and display custom geological mapping symbols for interpretation or plotting. Finally it is possible to export structural information to third party tools (Rocscience DIPS).
From Surpac, users can upload files to the new POWER’BY platform to share with stakeholders who can also view the files directly on the platform allowing:
- Seamless shift handover with all information in a centralised dashboard as shift workers access consistent data
- Easier reporting with a single source of truth
- Transparency and two-way communication between people, departments, and sites
- Full traceability for meeting discussions and files shared outside of meetings
- Reduced reliance on manual processes – such as checking control stations on a printed map – by saving files and data on a central location
- Improved end of month reporting process with accurate sources of information
- Peace of mind that data is backed up and secure
- Rapid decision-making based on the most up-to-date data available
Other updates include enhanced point cloud and related mesh tools performance and usability; improved ability to allow accurate meshing of large coordinate data; better 3D meshing, including autofix option to close holes; large performance improvement with the inclusion of a Multithreading option for 2D meshing; and better editing of point clouds ‘retain points inside/outside’ for excluding data such as trucks or infrastructure. Mines can now operate on Surpac 64 bit even when Office 64 bit is not installed, and take advantage of the significant performance advantages it offers.
