First Asia Pacific workshop on fibre-optic sensing

With the recent proliferation of fibre-optic cables, an interest has emerged in their use as sensors. When appropriate hardware is employed, fibre optic cables can be used for both temperature and vibration monitoring and have significant potential in mine monitoring and equipment maintenance.

November 13-15, 2018, in Perth, Western Australia, the first Asia Pacific Workshop on Fibre-Optic Sensing will take place with three key components:

1. A Masterclass on fibre-optic sensing by Dr Arthur Hartog
2. Presentations from industry and academia detailing its applications
3. Practical demonstrations of the technology conducted at Curtin University’s dedicated field laboratory.
