Mining software and solutions provider Micromine has been contracted by Altain Khuder LLC to supply and install its mine control and management reporting solution, Pitram, at the Tayan Nuur iron ore mine in Mongolia. It is Micromine’s first Pitram sale in Mongolia, and as such the group sees this as a significant milestone. Pitram is a mine control and management reporting solution that records, manages and processes mine site data in real-time. It provides a thorough overview of a mine site‟s activities, allowing for increased managerial control over an operation.
Tayan Nuur Director of Mining and Geology, Byambadorj Magvandorj, commented: “After considering various mining solutions, Pitram was selected due to its proven record of introducing operational improvements and increased efficiencies. Tayan Nuur is rapidly growing in relation to mine fleet, personnel and production. I am confident that Pitram will help achieve our objective of meeting project capacity in six months time”. The implementation is expected to be complete by January 2012. Tayan Nuur is an open pit iron ore mine located within the Govi-Altai Province of Mongolia, approximately 1,300 km south-west of Ulaan Baatar. It is one of the leading iron ore mines in Mongolia, producing over 60% Fe grade iron ore concentrates, which are exported to steel mills in China.
In addition to Tayan Nuur, Altain Khuder is preparing to mine other coal and iron ore deposits. Micromine’s geological data management application, Geobank; and its exploration and mine design application, Micromine, will also be implemented to provide a complete exploration and mining solution. Micromine Mongolia Manager, Tuguldur Tsogtsaikhan, commented: “Pitram is a flexible and fully scalable solution. As the operation grows, Pitram can be upgraded and additional modules added. The solution’s flexible nature will allow Tayan Nuur to introduce a continuous development plan to both encourage and accommodate the site’s growth.”
