Continental is launching a new compound for its RDT-Master tyres for use on rigid dump trucks. The cut-resistant compound was developed for rough and abrasive applications where tyres have to withstand sharp gravel, rocks and stones. “Thanks to the newly developed polymer meshing system based on high synthetic rubber and selected components, the RDT-Master cut-resistant offers good protection and wear resistance in rough applications while still maintaining good levels of heat dissipation.” The new compound complements the standard compound for the RDT-Master which is the best choice for mixed applications.
In commerical news, Back in October 2018, Continental and manufacturer of lift equipment JLG signed a supply agreement naming Continental as the solid tyre provider for JLG’s telehandlers for the next five years. During this period, Continental’s TeleMaster is given priority as the solid tyre for all JLG telehandlers manufactured and sold. The solid OTR tyre was created in a joint development effort of Continental and JLG. Thanks to the proven Continental compound for solid tyres, it comes with low rolling resistance reducing heat build-up. In addition, the tyre offers a rugged tread to handle rough surfaces at worksites. “The TeleMaster is a true win-win outcome of the collaboration with JLG”, says Pavel Prouza, Head of Sales and Marketing, the Americas at Continental Commercial Specialty Tires. “Us at Continental were able to transfer and extend our sound knowledge of solid tyre compounds from the industrial to the OTR tyre segment, while providing JLG with a solution tailored to their individual needs.”
