Bergteamet, headquartered in Boliden, Västerbotten, Sweden has signed an agreement with one of the the largest mining companies in India. The contract is worth between SEK100 and 200 million and is the first deal that Bergteamet closes in the mining industry in India. Hindustian Zinc Ltd (HZL) is one of the largest zinc producers in the world, with mines and smelters in India, Australia, Zambia and Ireland. HZL will invest heavily in it’s mines over the next five to ten years. Today, the company mainly extracts ore from open pits, but will move to underground mining more and more. The mission of Bergteamet in India is to drill a number of ventilation shafts.
The agreement runs up to five years, and if both parties are satisfied the collaboration might be very extensive. India has big potential in the mining industry, says Christer Gyllengahm, CEO, Bergteamet.
