Polish mining equipment major Famur has concluded a contract for the supply of longwall system with financing to the Mexican coal mining group, Minera Del Norte. The contract value is $24.96 million. This is a second major export contract achieved by Famur for Minera Del Norte. “Famur has been present in the very promising Mexican market for several years. The highest quality of our machines and their flexible adaptation to the needs of particular mines are assets that are influential in our obtaining further orders, as exemplified by the recent contract. What is important is that the agreement with Minera Del Norte again includes Fazos powered roof supports, which are appreciated by customers around the world”, said Ireneusz Tomecki, Vice President of Famur.
Under the agreement with Minera Del Norte, Famur will provide: 150 Fazos powered roof supports, an armoured face conveyor, beam stage loader and Famur lump crusher. Famur will also purchase and supply to the contractor a Joy longwall shearer. Famur states that one of its top priorities is to increase the scale of its exports. It wants to achieve this goal both through expansion into new markets, as well as by strengthened co-operation in the countries where it is already present. Apart from Mexico, India is a key market, where Famur has already estabilished Famur India Mining Solutions. The history of Famur’s cooperation with Mexican mining companies and coal mines dates back to 2007, when the first contract for the supply of powered roof supports for Minera Carbonifera Rio Escondido was completed. Since then, Famur has been a regular participant in tenders. The previous significant contract with Minera Del Norte amounted to over €20 million in cotnract value and was completed in March 2011. It covered the manufacture and supply of Fazos powered roof supports, together with the assembly and commissioning of the equipment, as well as carrying out a series of training exercises on operating the machines.
