Grinnell Products and Ansul, both premium brands of Tyco International, will be demonstrating their latest innovations at the Mining World Russia event between 24-26 April in Moscow. Grinnell Products has announced the release of the G-Mine PVC Piping System designed for the mining industry. This new system is comprised of high strength PVC pipes, couplings, and fittings all of which conform to ASTM D 1784. G-Mine PVC Pipe and Fittings are manufactured from a specially formulated PVC compound that provides higher impact strength over an extended period of time. This allows for the installation of G-Mine PVC Pipe and Fittings in above-ground, exposed mining applications. Ansul will be showcasing its A-101 mobile equipment fire suppression systems.
The Grinnelll G-Mine PVC Piping System is NSF-14 certified, except for SDR 13.5 which is NSF-61 certified. The inherent properties of PVC provides products that will not rust or corrode. G-Mine PVC is extremely resistant to harsh environments, acids, and most chemicals. Pipes and fittings based on it provide a system of piping and non-corrosive restrained joints that use precision-machined grooves on the pipe and in the fittings. When aligned, these grooves allow easy insertion of a spline, which locks the pipe and fittings together. A flexible, elastomeric seal (O-ring) in the fitting creates a hydraulic seal.
Since introducing vehicle fire suppression systems into the mining industry in the 1960s, Ansul believes that it has remained at the cutting edge of innovation. Operating in rugged, hazardous environments with highly flammable fuels, oils and pressurised hydraulic fluid lines, mining vehicles and heavy equipment are at increased risk of serious fire events. The standard Ansul A-101 mobile equipment fire suppression system discharges Ansul Foray dry chemical agent to quickly knock down flames in specific high-hazard areas, or flood entire volumes with the agent. Systems can also be designed with twin agent fire suppression capability with Ansul LVS liquid agent to prevent reflash and suppress burning fuels. Ansul also offers a wide range of ancillary products including infrared detection and additional dry chemical extinguishers to provide plant operators with peace of mind that their mining equipment and vehicles are fully protected. Also on stand at the exhibition will be the recently launched Ansul LVS liquid vehicle suppression system. This provides a stand-alone cooling and suppression system with one agent suitable for a wide variety of on-road and off-road vehicles. The wet chemical cooling soaking characteristics “ensures effective performance in a range of applications including public transportation, cargo transport and industrial sectors such as mining, forestry and landfill.” With flexible design and installation parameters, a wide temperature range from -40°C to 60°C and a 25-year shelf life, “end users can be confident that the Ansul LVS system provides a versatile vehicle protection solution with ease of maintenance and recharge.”
