ME Elecmetal has become a new sponsor for the Coalition for Energy Efficient Comminution (CEEC), bringing with it over 100 years of experience in mineral processing. With offices across Chile, USA, China, Mexico, Australia and the Asia Pacific, ME Elecmetal is a leading global supplier of integrated wear solutions for mining, construction and industry, specialising in steel milling and grinding products.
CEEC CEO Ms Alison Keogh welcomed the signing of the new agreement. “We are pleased to work with ME Elecmetal, a company that is committed to working sustainably and an important provider of integrated mining processing solutions across the globe,” she said. “CEEC’s mission is to share mining practices that improve energy efficiency, reduce costs, enhance shareholder value and help businesses achieve sustainability targets. As comminution consumes around 3% of the world’s electrical energy, it is important to collaborate with organisations such as ME Elecmetal to explore and share options for energy efficiency in mining.”
ME Elecmetal’s CEO Eduardo Muñoz Huerta said ME Elecmetal was pleased to join the CEEC network and support its collaborative work in fostering energy-efficient, lower footprint comminution and processing. “With over 100 years of experience, ME Elecmetal has grown its business and focused on being an innovative supplier connecting across countries,” he said. “We pride ourselves on providing the best solutions for crushing and grinding. To achieve this, we must remain at the forefront of energy efficiency technology. Our relationship with CEEC will enhance the flow of information between our organisation and industry to drive global best practice. “ME Elecmetal is also proud to demonstrate our commitment to the CEEC causes through offsetting the total power requirements for our Chilean steel plants with a renewable energy plant, Las Peñas, generating 32GWh of energy annually; a decade long partnership with Metcom Technologies, 2019 CEEC Medal winner, for their well-documented work on ball mill and cyclone efficiency; our current partnership with RAP Innovation and Development, and the launch of the ME Optimiser™ system specifically designed to measure in-mill conditions which can be used to improve power and water utilisation.”
Keogh said support from ME Elecmetal and other visionary sponsors is critical to CEEC’s success. “CEEC is a not-for-profit group, entirely funded by sponsorship from the minerals industry. We have a strong network and share energy-efficient, lower footprint comminution and processing practices. Sponsorship from ME Elecmetal and our other supporters helps us to connect leading thinkers across our network and through our global workshops, promoting best practice and innovation. CEEC taps into this knowledge, hosting high quality, free information and resources on our website and via workshops, including improvement and benchmarking tools. By collaborating and sharing leading advances and solutions, we all benefit. We help accelerate industry uptake of improvement and innovation, which can reduce footprint and improve shareholder value and community support.”
