Metalloinvest has begun replacing the magnetic separators at iron ore mining complex Mikhailovsky GOK’s beneficiation plant, as part of the company’s large-scale modernisation and technical re-equipping programme to increase the plant’s production volumes.
Replacing single-drum magnetic separators with more modern and productive ones will increase iron ore concentrate production by 10,200 t per year. The new equipment is produced domestically and used for beneficiation by wet magnetic separation. The PMB PP-120/300 separators make it possible to change the position of the magnetic systems, creating an improved mode of operation. Their distinctive features are increased reliability and an ease of use and maintenance.
Dmitry Fedotov, Chief of Beneficiation Area #2 at the plant, said: “The movement and washing of incoming pulp is more efficient due to the updated design of the bath in the magnetic separators. As a result, the extraction of useful component is increasing, leading to higher volumes of concentrate.”
The plant’s mechanical repair teams are currently dismantling the old separators and constructing the new ones. A total of 23 units of equipment will be replaced. The project is scheduled to be completed in December this year.
