Navoi adds 12 Cat 789D trucks to gold mine haulage fleets

With the direct support of the management of Navoi Mining & Metallurgical Combine (NMMC), the fleet of the automobile transport’s department which handles equipment for the mining group’s operation is being expanded from year to year. Over the first five months of 2020, 12 177 t capacity Caterpillar 789D dump trucks, as well as five wheel loaders and four crawler dozers were acquired.

The transport team manages the fleets at the Muruntau and Auminzo-Amantoi gold mines including the repair and maintenance of heavy vehicles and technical equipment.

The mines now have a more mixed fleet of BELAZ and Caterpillar trucks (though NMMC already had some Cat 789C models) with the larger fleet of BELAZ machines having capacities of mainly 136 and 220 t. The loading tools are mainly EKG-10, EKG-15, EKG-18 and EKG-20 rope shovels from UZTM-KARTEX as well as Hitachi and Caterpillar hydraulic excavators. More than three hundred units of the enterprise’s vehicles are involved in production processes. By the end of the year, NMMC said it plans to add another 34 new equipment units.

NMMC states: “Assembling and commissioning in a short time of heavy mining equipment which has been brought to the automobile transport’s department requires great skill from specialists. Assembling of new vehicles takes 5-6 working days on the site to prepare it for production. To strengthen the knowledge and skills of drivers at the enterprise, BELAZ and Caterpillar dump truck driving simulators are used in the new training building. Here drivers in addition to increasing their practical experience, also master the capabilities of modern mining machines.”
