The Hub de Innovación Minera del Peru and the Global Mining Guidelines Group (GMG) have announced a partnership that aims to help build the mining industry of the future. The Hub and GMG will collaborate on joint initiatives and projects designed to promote a culture of innovation and collaboration between public and private institutions, including organisations, companies, and academic and research institutions.
Joint activities between the Hub and GMG will include fostering open innovation for relevant topics to the industry such as energy, water, environment, community relations, automation and mining 4.0, occupational health and safety, and operations. Participating in knowledge sharing, co-creating spaces to discuss and disseminate content related to mining of the future will also be main initiatives, as well as contributing to consolidating the ecosystem and facilitating connections with individuals, initiatives, and organisations in the respective networks that could add value to the activities.
Pamela Antonioli, the Hub’s CEO, commented that “collaboration is the key to promoting an innovative culture. Successfully solving the challenges that the mining sector faces now and in the future will depend on sharing ideas and risks with key people throughout the mining ecosystem. We are excited about the opportunity to partner with GMG through a variety of initiatives that will result in a more sustainable mining sector.”
“We are committed to supporting the mining industry through efficient and sophisticated methods of collaboration, co-operation, and discussion,” says Heather Ednie, GMG Managing Director. “Together, we can create a multidisciplinary approach to challenges that will result in enhanced safety, innovation, and community involvement. I am excited for future collaboration opportunities the partnership between our organisations will facilitate.”
