Minerals process and project management company MDM Engineering Group, has announced that it has been awarded the definitive feasibility study (DFS) for Witwatersrand Consolidated Gold Resources’ Debron Merriespruit South project in South Africa and the prefeasibility study (PFS) for GoGold Resources’ Parral tailings project in Chihuahua, Mexico.
Wits Gold is the mineral right holder of the DeBron and Merriespruit prospects in the Free State gold field, approximately 20 km to the south of Welkom. The two prospects are being considered together as a single entity and have been named the DBM project. The scope of work is the execution of engineering design and costing for the process plant and associated infrastructure, to produce a DFS for the Wits Gold DBM project. Kevin Stock, MDM GM Proposals and Studies said: “MDM is thrilled to be working on the DBM project in South Africa. We have gained invaluable knowledge of the South African market through previous projects undertaken in the country, and having designed and built 35 gold plants, we believe we will add great value to this project going forward.”
The Parral tailings project comprises dry land tailings deposited from the historical Mina la Prieta silver and base metal mine. The tailings were deposited in two separate areas referred to as Zones 1 and 2. Parral is held by GoGold’s wholly owned Mexican subsidiary, Grupo Coanzamex. GoGold, a Canadian exploration company, recently acquired the Parral tailings project from Absolute Gold in August of this year. Terry Coughlan, GoGold President and CEO stated: “Preliminary work shows that a low cost mining and heap leach recovery process could be a viable option to develop the property. With the contracting of MDM along with our new COO Bob Harris we are well positioned to advance the project quickly through feasibility and potentially production. The experience that MDM brings to the table is very impressive and we feel comfortable with their progression.” Dave Dodd, MDM Chief Metallurgist said: “MDM is pleased to be working on the Parral Tailings Project in Mexico. MDM will bring the experience of the team’s 35 gold plants designed and built over the years, which includes two 650 t/mth tailings plants built in the last three years. We look forward to a long working relationship with GoGold Resources.”
