Materials handling and size reduction solution providers Gundlach Equipment, Jeffrey Rader and Pennsylvania Crusher, presented their new unified front at MINExpo 2012 recently – the new single company TerraSource Global. The three companies were acquired by Hillenbrand in April 2010, and in July 2012 were organised into a single company that retains the three strong brands in an effort to serve its customers around the globe more effectively: “The restructuring allows us to provide parts, equipment and engineering solutions from all three brands to our entire customer base from any location.” The company also forms the subject of a High Profile article in the November issue of International Mining.
As part of the growth strategy for these brands, the creation and development of a single entity by which to market as a whole rather than individually met the brand architecture goal of the organisation. The company says it conducted a careful and thorough process to select a new brand name that reflects the organisation’s focus on providing material handling and process equipment to a global industrial base that utilises natural resources in their processes. Along with the new name, a new logo was developed that graphically depicts the company’s “leadership position in industrial equipment.”
MINExpo 2012 represents just the beginning of a major roll out of the new brand name and logo across all marketing platforms and will continue throughout 2013. “Operating as a single company with our market experience and brand recognition gives our global customers and business partners easy access to, and confidence in, our expertise in material handling and size reduction solutions at any of our global locations,” said Mark Kohler, President of TerraSource Global. “We currently have nine locations in five countries, but our growth initiatives are continuous and additional locations may be added to meet the demands of our customers,” Kohler added.
There are two organisational groups within TerraSource Global that are industry-specific: The Power and Mining Group and The Engineered Systems Group. The Engineered Systems Group, spearheaded from the Greenville, South Carolina location by Tony Lubiani, Vice President, Engineered Systems, supports forest products and related markets with the Jeffrey Rader brand. In addition, the Engineered Systems Group will work with engineering firms, customers and contractors on a global basis to supply engineered equipment packages that support all the industries and brands. The Power and Mining Group, spearheaded from the Broomall, Pennsylvania by Doug Sublett, Vice President, Power and Mining, supports the power, mining and related markets with all equipment and services from all three brands.TerraSource Global said its mission is to be “the global partner today and tomorrow of industrial users of material handling and processing equipment by providing the best technology, quality and service for their given project.”
TerraSource activity so far in 2012 includes the opening of a new parts and sales support center in Kentucky. This office was opened to service the growing demand for parts and service in the West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky regions across all three equipment brands and it includes a stocked warehouse with sales and service capabilities. In the Pennsylvania Crusher range, the well-known Mountaineer Sizer has been upgraded and redesigned. The Mountaineer II Sizer is now available and offers “significant improvements over other standard cantilevered sizer designs.” TerraSource says that the changes are based on what sizer users worldwide have asked for. “I believe the new Mountaineer II Sizer provides the robust features of the orignal design, but incorporates additional maintenance features that add significantly durability to the unit,” stated Doug Sublett, VP of Power & Mining at TerraSource Global.
Among the improvements to the Mountaineer II Sizer is an independent modular link gear box used for rotor synchronisation. The isolated link gear box can be quickly changed or repaired without disturbing other drive components. It also features a single base frame with a unique modular approach in servicing drive and rotor components. The rotors are more easily serviced with the timing gears removed from the rotor shaft. New bolt-on tooth segments make changing crushing wear parts easy and reduce maintenance and down-time. The Mountaineer II Sizer uses industry standard off-the-shelf gear reducers and couplings, providing superior availability and customer choice. TerraSource has also incorporated more technology to protect against tramp materials. Plus, smart motor protection switches and torque limiting devices can be included with the new machine or as an aftermarket feature. The Mountaineer II Sizer is available in a wide range of models, handling top size up to 1,500 mm and material strengths to 170 Mpa.
