Dassault Systèmes sets up Centre of Excellence in India with the TEXMiN Foundation at the Indian School of Mines in Dhanbad

Dassault Systèmes has partnered with the TEXMiN (Technology Innovation in Exploration & Mining) Foundation – part of the Technology Innovation Hub of the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) in Dhanbad to set up a world class Centre of Excellence which will provide radical technology support and prepare workforces of the future, specific to the mining and allied industries. As a technology and solution partner, Dassault Systèmes will provide experiential learning through its 3DEXPERIENCE platform to support the industrial and startup ecosystem with complete pit-to-port optimisation — from geological modelling and mine engineering, to workforce and production scheduling, supply chain optimisation, portfolio optimisation and plant design.

Today, sustainability, traceability, and safety are paramount for mining organisations. This can only be achieved by accelerating their digital transformation journey and integrating the entire value chain from the mine, to the plant, to the port. This partnership will empower students and professionals with unique learning opportunities, preparing them for this fast-paced industry. The courses and curricula will be designed by combining virtual worlds on the 3DEXPERIENCE® platform which delivers a single source of truth to unlock the capabilities of complete digital transformation and experience the new reality of sustainable mining and metals.

“We are excited to collaborate with Dassault Systèmes for setting up the Mining Technology Excellence Centre and giving our students the opportunity to experience on the job learning environment via virtual simulations. We are committed to train the new generation of innovators, startups, and professionals with future-ready innovation technologies,” said Naresh Soni, CEO of TEXMiN, and IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. “We believe that this will be an important milestone for the mining industry in India.”

“Today, mining companies need to adapt to greater economic uncertainty, climate change, and resource depletion, and are expected to be more sustainable, efficient, safe, and resilient. We are proud to partner with a premier mining institute like IIT (ISM) Dhanbad to bring the technologies of the future to the students, startups and the ecosystem,” said Deepak NG, Managing Director, India, Dassault Systèmes. “The mining industry has a critical role to play in supporting mining communities to develop the skills needed to fully participate in the digital economy of the future. Academia and industry collaboration like this will help Indian mining and metal companies in their current reskilling and upskilling programs on Digital Transformation and build the workforce for the future.”
