Since May 2021, contractor STRACON has been operating Zijin Continental Gold’s Buritica underground mine in Antioquia, Colombia. During this period, its scope has included the development and preparation of 600 m per month in horizontal mining operations for underground mining, covering the entire mining cycle including drilling, blasting, cleaning and support.

In 2022, STRACON increased its fleet of heavy machinery, executed the development of more than 7,500 m of horizontal workings and contributed to the extraction of more than 150,000 t of ore. After these 20 months of initial work, STRACON has announced the renewal of the contract for an additional 36 months, adding: “This renewal means for STRACON the result of great teamwork and our strategy based on becoming partners and allies of our clients.”

It adds: “Today our experience allows us to continue bringing the best practices to each project where we operate and to actively collaborate with all our clients to continue developing efficient, safe, and sustainable mining throughout the region.”
