A load and haul re-birth

Daniel Gleeson, Editor of International Mining, interviews Dr Jan Petzold, GHH Group CEO

Schmidt Kranz Group-owned GHH Group has been supplying market niches across the globe for decades, creating machines for the low-profile mines of southern Africa or narrow-vein operations in Latin America. It has done this while retaining a key focus on the soft-rock sector in its German homeland – one dominated by a major salt and potash player.

Now, having assembled an impressive line-up of new machines over the last four-or-so-years and re-birthing a 10-t loader, the LF10-NEO, GHH is out to claim more significant hard-rock mining share.

In this interview with GHH Group CEO, Dr Jan Petzold, at the company’s headquarters in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, we learn all about this expanded offering – starting with the LF10-NEO, a 10-t-payload loader with the highest tipping height in its class – and gain further insight into the the company’s ongoing digitalisation, electrification and automation plans.

This sees Dr Petzold touch on developments with GHH inSiTE, the company’s tethered electric loaders and its automation advances in the underground room and pillar mining sector.
