Electric Mine 2024 Turbocharged Interview – Jérôme Cloué, Epiroc

InvestMETS' Richard Roberts interviews Jérôme Cloué, Epiroc VP Electrification

During The Electric Mine 2024, held May 21-23 at Crown Perth, Western Australia, we sat down with eight interviewees from Sandvik, ABB, Epiroc, Komatsu, Hitachi Energy, Cavotec and First Mode. The conversations focused on the industry’s route to net zero, plus the challenges and opportunities that come with mine electrification. This one saw InvestMETS’ Richard Roberts sit down with Jérôme Cloué, Epiroc VP Electrification. Points of discussion included the importance of the Australian market for Epiroc in terms of its electric fleet growth. Then the interview homes in on where demand is coming from – some going all electric or planning to versus some looking at an interim hybrid solution. Then its proven ability to offer battery conversions by retrofit, and on to the high profile battery trolley MT42 truck project at Boliden’s Kristineberg mine which was progressed together with ABB as well as the flexibility to offer other solutions to customers such as the BluVein slotted e-rail technology. Other areas of review included integration of automation and electrification and how some of Epiroc’s acquisitions in recent years are contributing to its ability to offer a comprehensive green fleet solution.
