Metso Outotec to deliver modular crushing station, milling equipment and more to G Mining’s Tocantinzinho gold project

Metso Outotec has been awarded equipment orders by G Mining Ventures Corporation for the company’s flagship asset, the Tocantinzinho gold project, in Para State, Brazil.

The value of the orders is approximately €20 million ($19.7 million).

Metso Outotec’s scope of delivery to the greenfield project consists of a compact aggregates plant and the key process equipment for the beneficiation plant from Metso Outotec’s Planet Positive offering. Included are, for example, a modular FIT™ crushing station, Premier™ SAG and ball mills, an MRM Mill Reline Machine and High Rate Thickeners.

“We are delighted to be part of this important project,” Fernando Samanez, Minerals Sales Director for Metso Outotec in South America, said. “G Mining has a superb team and the Tocantinzinho project is implementing efficient and sustainable technology combined with low operating and life-cycle costs. We are glad to be building another success with our FIT crushing station concept and also delivering the first MRM Mill Reline Machine in Brazil.”

On September 12, the G Mining Board gave official signoff for construction of Tocantinzinho , which, according to an updated feasibility study from earlier this year, will have an average milling rate of 4.6 Mt/y for average annual gold output of 175,000 oz.

Marathon Gold taps Metso Outotec for Valentine processing plant equipment

Marathon Gold has awarded Metso Outotec with orders for key processing equipment for the Valentine gold project in Newfoundland, Canada.

The combined order value of approximately €15 million ($14.9 million) has been booked in Minerals’ Sepetmber-quarter orders received.

“We chose Metso Outotec equipment because of their brand reputation, technology-oriented equipment, commitment to safety and environment, and their service footprint in Atlantic Canada,” Paolo Toscano, Vice President, Projects, Marathon Gold Corporation, said.

Metso Outotec’s scope of delivery consists of a VF Series™ grizzly feeder, a Nordberg® jaw crusher, Planet Positive Premier® SAG and ball mills, a Mill Reline Machine (MRM), vibrating screens and a high-rate tailings thickener with Reactorwell™ feed system.

Andy Lingenfelter, Vice President, Minerals Sales in North and Central America, added: “We are excited to work on the Valentine gold project with Marathon. We were able to align with the project’s key value drivers at an early stage and provide to-the-point technical support.

“Marathon has selected leading-class equipment for their gold production process, and they will also be able to benefit from our broad-based service organisation.”

An April 2021 feasibility study outlined an open-pit mining and conventional milling operation at Valentine with a 2.5 Mt/y processing rate over a 13-year mine life with a 31.5% after-tax internal rate of return and initial capital costs of C$305 million ($228 million). The project has estimated proven reserves of 1.4 Moz (29.68 Mt at 1.46 g/t) and probable reserves of 650,000 oz (17.38 Mt at 1.17 g/t).

ArcelorMittal contracts Metso Outotec for iron ore processing plant revamp in Mexico

Metso Outotec says it has been awarded a contract to supply key grinding equipment for ArcelorMittal’s Las Truchas 2.3 Mt/y iron ore processing plant revamp project in Mexico.

The value of the order is approximately €17 million ($19 million), to be booked in the Minerals division’s Q4 (December quarter), 2021 orders received.

The order includes two Metso Outotec Premier™ grinding mills with a total installed power of 19 MW. In addition, Metso Outotec will deliver an in-house designed Mill Reline Machine, enabling efficient and safe replacement of the steel and rubber lining systems, an operations-friendly Select™ Ball Feeder and spare parts, the company said.

Andy Lingenfelter, Vice President, Minerals Sales, North and Central America at Metso Outotec, said: “We are pleased to have been chosen for this project. In Mexico, Metso Outotec is a leading grinding mill supplier and is supported by our strong local service and consumables presence.

Metso Outotec addresses standardisation and flexibility needs with new grinding mills

Metso Outotec has, after reviewing the combined horizontal mill product offering from the Metso and Outotec companies, unveiled a “harmonised” Metso Outotec horizontal mill product line that, it says, represent the best of both legacy companies.

The Metso Outotec Premier™ horizontal grinding mills and Select™ horizontal grinding mills are designed for different customer segments and markets, and they have distinctly different features and benefits. In both lines, there are various mill solutions available for a wide range of applications.

The Premier horizontal grinding mills are customisable solutions built on state-of-the-art grinding mill technology, process expertise, and design capability, the company says. The Premier horizontal grinding mills are engineered to “excel and create vast possibilities” for customers and applications.

The Select horizontal grinding mills are a range of pre-engineered solutions that allow simple mill selection, simplified proposal preparation, and a streamlined order execution process. Select horizontal grinding mills feature a suite of technologies and conservative design parameters that meet or exceed operational goals, Metso Outotec claims. Select horizontal grinding mill sizes are available for applications up to 7.8 MW for both the SAG and ball mills. Rod mills are available up to Ø4.60 m x 6.10 m EGL.

“With the introduction of the Premier and Select horizontal grinding mills, Metso Outotec continues its over 100-year legacy in grinding,” Christoph Hoetzel, Head of Grinding business line at Metso Outotec, says. “Both lines have their own differences and benefits – but share the concepts and expertise that have made us an industry leader time and time again.”

He added: “As a combined company we have consistently led the way in grinding mill innovation. We’ve continuously pushed mill technology in the next size increment. Currently, we have the largest operating mills in the world, and we want to lean on that legacy in taking the next steps in mill size. In addition, it is important for us to continue to be a frontrunner in the development of a more robust suite of horizontal mill technologies, providing desirable options for customers looking for quick execution with reliable technology.”

The company says the Premier and Select mills come ready to be integrated with its mill reline equipment and full mining portfolio. The former includes the recently launched Mill Reline Machine (MRM), which has a capacity of 4,000 kg, as well as a broad selection of liner options, including the Megaliner™.

Metso Outotec ups mill relinine equipment capacity with MRM

Metso Outotec is extending its mill reline equipment offering with a high-capacity Mill Reline Machine (MRM).

The new robust MRM has a capacity of 4,000 kg, enabling easy and safe replacement of steel lining systems inside even the largest grinding mills, according to the company.

“Replacing steel lining systems inside the confined space of grinding mills is a time-consuming and demanding job requiring strict safety measures and highly reliable equipment,” Jared Le Cras, Senior Manager, Mill Reline Equipment at Metso Outotec, said. “With the addition of the high-capacity MRM, Metso Outotec now provides a comprehensive range of Mill Reline Machines designed to ISO and IEC standards. The new MRM is designed for heavy-duty lining replacement tasks, with safety and efficiency as our top priorities.”

Benefits of the Metso Outotec MRM, according to the company, include efficient mill relining enabled by unique mechanical design features; maximised reliability, thanks to easy data access and spares replacement; minimised risk, thanks to safety features; and comprehensive service support via Metso Outotec’s global service network

In addition to mill reline machines, Metso Outotec’s mill reline equipment offering includes feed chute transporters, Tube MRMs and bolt hammers.
