BEUMER Group prepares to showcase complete material transport solution offering at Bauma

BEUMER Group is gearing up to present an even wider product portfolio to attendees of Bauma 2022, in Munich, on October 24-30, following the acquisition of the FAM Group.

Since May of this year, the full-service provider has been offering its entire product spectrum, ranging from bulk material handling, and processing plants to conveyor technology. This sees customers provided with complete material transport solutions from a single source, the company says.

The BEUMER Group has been firmly anchored in the bulk solids handling technology market for decades, with the acquisition of the FAM Group significantly strengthening the system provider’s position in the minerals and mining markets. The FAM Group has its headquarters in Magdeburg, Germany, and is an internationally active, medium-sized group and manufacturer of systems for open-cast mining, stockyards, mineral processing, ports, conveying and loading.

The BEUMER Group offers machines along the entire transport chain for bulk goods, with solutions including the extraction, conveying, loading, storage and processing of various raw materials, for  various industries.

BEUMER Group says it combines many years of serial production know-how with customised manufacturing experience, offering high-quality engineering and extensive services.

“The BEUMER Group delivers turnkey complexes for the extraction, transport and processing of raw materials, thanks to its wide range of large-scale equipment and individual machines for open-cast mining, such as bucket wheel excavators, belt wagons and conveyor systems,” the company said. “Mine operators can transport various bulk materials with BEUMER’s pipe and overland conveyors, even over long distances and above terrain which is often rough and impassable. Steep gradients and tight curve radii enable individual routes to be adapted to the topography and the task at hand. The BEUMER Group can customise the systems to match the conveying task and topography exactly. The system provider relies on modern planning and layout tools to support plant operators early in the project and design the ideal conveying solution together with the customer.”

The product portfolio includes extensive storage space technology, loading systems and various crushing & screening plants, including impact, hammer, single & double-roll crushers, plus many more crushers and mills.

FLSmidth to supply gearless overland conveyor technology to Southeast Asia mine

FLSmidth says it has been chosen to supply an overland conveyor (OLC) for a large, established copper-gold mine in Southeast Asia, which follows a large equipment order from the same customer and site earlier in 2022.

The pit-to-plant conveying system, which is over 5 km in length, has gearless drive technology. The order, including design and supply, was booked in the September quarter of 2022 and is valued at approximately DKK330 million ($44 million).

The conveyor order follows the March quarter 2022 announcement that FLSmidth had been chosen to supply two gearless SAG mills, two gearless ball mills and thickener technology to the same site. This new FLSmidth overland conveyor will deliver the ore from the pit to the new FLSmidth SAG and ball mills at the process plant.

The conveying system, part of the newly acquired tk Mining portfolio, is expected to deliver a significant reduction of operating expenditure due to its gearless drive technology, which uses less energy and results in less maintenance and higher availability during operations.

Mikko Keto, Group CEO at FLSmidth, said: “This overland conveyor system order not only continues our robust relationship with this customer, but it also demonstrates the strength of our portfolio following the acquisition of the tk Mining business. This is evidence that FLSmidth is a global leader in overland conveyors and gearless drive technology. The customer will benefit from our full flowsheet coverage, and we are proud to have provided the majority of the equipment to this mine site expansion.”

The order supports FLSmidth’s MissionZero ambition to enable customers to mine in a more sustainable manner, it said. Overland conveyors significantly reduce the need for diesel-powered truck fleets on mine site and makes material transportation more cost-effective and resource efficient.

Metso Outotec bags overland and in-plant conveyor order from the Americas

Metso Outotec says it has been awarded an order for a large belt conveyor package for delivery to a mining customer in the Americas.

The value of the order is around €60 million ($61 million), of which a third was booked in the Minerals division’s June-quarter orders received and the rest in the September quarter.

Metso Outotec’s scope of delivery includes 3.5 km overland and in-plant conveyors as well as shuttle head conveyors with a nominal equipment capacity of up to 21,000 t/h.

Metso Outotec says it has the capability to design and deliver even the largest conveyor systems with high project quality, with its overland solutions providing flexible and reliable material transportation with increased energy savings for the lowest total cost of ownership.

Superior targets longer and wider material handling applications with new overland conveyors

Superior Industries is launching a new model of its Zipline® Overland Conveyors, expanding its range of modular products for longer and wider material handling applications.

Zipline conveyors target bulk producers looking for overland conveyors that require little or no pre-engineering for express deliveries and are designed for quick assembly in the field. With the addition of the new EXT Series, Zipline Conveyors are available in lengths up to 762 m and belt widths up to 1,220 mm.

Between the head and tail are a series of 12.2 m intermediate sections designed with 200 mm channel and 610 mm tall support stands. Standard Zipline Conveyor models are equipped with mechanical take-ups for shorter distances, but the new EXT Series includes a gravity take-up tower to accommodate longer-distance overland conveying, the company said.

All of the conveyor components – like the pulleys, idlers and scrapers – are also manufactured in-house.

“This unique advantage means higher quality, faster deliveries and all-inclusive support from Superior Industries,” the company said.

Metso Outotec goes the distance with overland conveyor range

Metso Outotec says it has introduced a full range of overland conveyors for “economic and energy-efficient bulk material transportation”.

Designed for transporting bulk material in long distance mining applications, the overland conveyor solutions can be used at both open-pit and underground operations and, according to the company, offer the lowest total cost of ownership.

Lars Duemmel, Vice President, Bulk Material Handling Systems at Metso Outotec, said: “In mining and minerals processing applications, conveying is one of the most efficient and safest ways to transport bulk material. It is often referred as the backbone of the entire process.

“The robust design of our overland conveyors allows for capacities of up to 20,000 t/h, including over 5 km on a single flight for a seamless process. What is also important is that you can achieve power savings of up to 30% with the patented Energy Saving Idlers® (ESI).”

ESI, according to Metso Outotec, significantly reduces the overall rolling resistance on conveyor belts, leading to savings in the electrical power costs to operate the conveyor.

Duemmel added: “Thanks to our extensive process engineering capability and proven installations around the world, we are able to support our customers with complete end-to-end conveyor solutions.

“This includes concept studies and definitions for all types of terrains and route types with horizontal and vertical curves. Our expertise also covers post-installation services and maintenance, including a full range of accessories, belts and components featured in the recently launched Conveyor Solutions Handbook.”
