WH Auctioneers and Ritchie Bros to hold Majwe Mining JV equipment auction

In conjunction with WH Auctioneers, Ritchie Bros is supporting a mining equipment auction in Jwaneng, Botswana, this week, with assets coming from the end-of-mine contract of the Majwe Mining Joint Venture.

The Botswana Mining Machinery Live Auction will be held on July 8.

“The two companies bring unrivalled expertise and experience in their respective fields,” Finlay Massey, Sales Director APAC, Ritchie Bros, said. “This is a live auction in Botswana with online bidding, hosted by WH Auctioneers with the support of Ritchie Bros. expertise, marketing efforts and our global database of buyers, which is second-to-none.”

On offer are Caterpillar 777D 85,000-litre water trucks, Caterpillar 834H and 854K wheel dozers, Caterpillar D10T tracked dozers, Caterpillar 16M motor graders, a Caterpillar 336DL tracked excavator, Terex TA100 and TA60 rigid dump trucks, Hyster 25 tyre handler, a Komatsu D375-5 tracked dozer, a Caterpillar 966 wheel loader, a Komatsu WA600 loader, Bell B20 articulated dump trucks, Manitou MHT780 and MRT2540 telehandlers, Atlas Copco drill rigs, crushers and screens, Lincoln Electric Vantage 500 welder/generators, and trucks and light delivery vehicles.

The auction will be conducted live on-site in Jwaneng, Botswana, on July 8 at 10:30AM SAST with webcast bidding available for overseas buyers. Those interested in bidding are urged to register to bid before the auction.

Back in 2019, the Majwe Mining Joint Venture was awarded a A$1.7 billion contract at Debswana Diamond Co’s Jwaneng Mine Cut-9 project in Botswana.

Majwe, a JV between Thiess (70%) and long-term local partner Bothakga Burrow Botswana (30%), was to provide full scope mining services over nine years, including drill and on-bench services, mine planning, equipment maintenance, load and haul, and mining operations.

In 2021, the contract was terminated by Debswana, with the Cut 9 operation transitioning to an owner-mining operation.

Ritchie Bros looks to boost footprint, access to equipment with Euro Auctions buy

Ritchie Bros and Euro Auctions have entered into an agreement under which Ritchie Bros will acquire Euro Auctions group for an enterprise value of £775 million ($1.08 billion).

Founded in 1998, Euro Auctions conducts unreserved heavy equipment auctions with on-site and online bidding under the brands Euro Auctions and Yoder & Frey, with 200-plus employees in 14 countries. In 2020, the company conducted 60 auctions, selling close to 90,000 items for £484 million-plus across its nine locations in the UK, Northern Ireland, Germany, Spain, the UAE, Australia, and the US. Similar to Ritchie Bros, Euro Auctions also sells items through a timed auction format and a daily marketplace with Buy Now and Make Offer options.

Ritchie Bros. will be retaining Euro Auctions employees and its brand, both of which are highly regarded in the EMEA region, Euro Auctions says. This deal will expand Ritchie Bros’ overall footprint and access to equipment, while also tapping into new revenue streams with service offerings to Euro Auctions customers, including inventory management services, data solutions, financing, warranty, insurance, inspections, refurbishing, shipping and more.

Komatsu Europe and Ritchie Bros enter used equipment partnership

Komatsu Europe has signed up Ritchie Bros’ cloud-based SaaS solution, RB Asset Solutions, to help better manage its assets internally and remarket its used equipment.

RB Asset Solutions brings together a suite of tools and services to help customers better manage, analyse, and sell their assets, Ritchie Bros says, adding that Komatsu will use the service in coordination with its redesigned and mobile-friendly website: used.komatsu.eu.

Giovanni Guidi, who is responsible for the project at Komatsu Europe, said: “We have developed a strong relationship with Mascus over the years; the services and tools included with the RB Asset Solutions platform will give our dealers full control over their stock and optimise used equipment sales.

“We’re excited about all the internal, user-friendly tools that come with RB Asset Solutions to make us more efficient and create an online community for all our dealers handling used equipment sales around Europe.”

As an RB Asset Solutions customer, Komatsu Europe is equipped with a complete inventory management system accessible by all Komatsu Europe dealers, allowing them to manage their stock and publish used equipment to various sales channels, including their own individual dealer site, used.komatsu.eu, Mascus.com, or any other Ritchie Bros sales channel, according to Ritchie Bros.

The used.komatsu.eu website, which was recently redesigned by the RB Asset Solutions team, is available via desktop and as a mobile app. Equipment can be searched and filtered by potential buyers by equipment type, manufacturer, hours/usage, location, price, etc, Ritchie Bros said.

“Additional data and multilingual marketing tools are also a part of the RB Asset Solutions package, helping Komatsu Europe better understand when and how to sell and advertise their assets to the world,” the company added.

Karl Werner, President, International, Ritchie Bros, said: “We are extremely proud to have Komatsu, the second largest worldwide manufacturer of construction, mining and utility equipment, select RB Asset Solutions to grow visibility for its used equipment stock in over 20 European countries. We are so happy to see the tools and services included with RB Asset Solutions are already helping many OEMs and other large companies around the world.”
