SANY delivers first rigid mining truck to Indonesia coal sector

Five SANY excavators, including two SY750Hs, two SY500Hs, one SY215C, and one SRT95C rigid-body mining truck, have recently been delivered to two large coal mines in Indonesia, the China-based equipment manufacturer reports.

The latest delivery, the SY750H, the largest-tonnage SANY excavator in Indonesia at 76 t, added to the SY500Hs and SY215Cs already on site. The SY750H is equipped with a 5.4 cu.m bucket to achieve higher ripping in difficult ground conditions, SANY says. It comes with a fuel-efficient ISUZU engine.

“The SY750H crawler excavators are used specifically for overburden, as well as for loading dumper trucks in the mine,” SANY said. “They have proved their efficiency, cost-effectiveness and reliability in operation.”

The delivery of the SRT95C, meanwhile, represented the first rigid truck to head to a coal mining job site in Indonesia. It came equipped with a Cummins QST high-power engine with electronic fuel injection control and Allison transmission. “This means enhanced acceleration performance and reduced fuel consumption and emissions,” SANY said.

The truck’s frame is made of alloyed structural steel, which features resistance to low temperature, bending, twisting and impact. In addition, McPherson front strut suspension adopted on the front axle and steering mechanism smooth the ride, according to SANY.

“SANY’s equipment has a strong presence in Indonesia as clients across the islands have purchased a range of products, including excavators, cranes and mining trucks, since years ago,” it said. “These machines have proven their outstanding off-road properties as well as a good quality in service.”

The client from one of the coal mines said: “With large grab capacity, high fuel efficiency and rapid working cycles, SANY excavators fully meet our requirements. Also, the productivity and stability in operation and good aftersales service, especially the spare part support, make SANY rigid mining trucks impressive.”

The delivery of these excavators and trucks followed another order from a mining customer in Africa last month.

On July 23, Eritrea’s Bisha Mining Share Company, owned by Zijin Mining, took delivery of nine SRT95C dump trucks it ordered earlier this year from SANY. These trucks will help the copper-zinc mine increase ore production.

DEUTZ to supply SANY with China emission-compliant engines

DEUTZ has entered a joint venture agreement with SANY that will see the Germany-based company take over production of the China construction equipment manufacturer’s current engine range.

DEUTZ says it will be investing a mid-double digit million euro amount in the new joint venture and will hold a majority share of 51%. The closing of the transaction is expected by the end of the year. This agreement follows a memorandum of understanding the two companies signed in December last year (pictured).

The JV is aimed at supplying SANY with around 75,000 new engines in 2022, all of which will comply with the China IV emissions standard for off-road applications and China 6 for on-road applications, DEUTZ said.

“In addition to the successful conclusion of the joint venture deal with SANY, other elements of the international growth strategy are also going to plan in China,” DEUTZ said.

These include the strategic alliance with BEINEI to carry out production locally, with the DEUTZ management team overseeing the manufacture of about 20,000 engines for the Asia market in 2022 at a new factory in Tianjin, China. The ramp-up is set for 2020, when around 2,000 to 3,000 engines are to be produced, DEUTZ said.

“Further progress has also been achieved in the partnership between DEUTZ and FAR EAST HORIZON to expand the local service business,” DEUTZ said. “With more than 80 branches, FAR EAST HORIZON is the largest player in China’s construction equipment rental business and the ideal partner to meet the growing demand for innovative engines. DEUTZ customers will soon be able to benefit from digital services such as a shared online shop.”

DEUTZ CEO, Dr Frank Hiller, said: “The joint venture agreement marks an important milestone in the implementation of our new China strategy. We are now ideally positioned to take advantage of the rapid growth in the world’s largest individual market for engines.

“The alliances with our local partners will enable us to significantly increase our local presence for engines and we now have access to an attractive production network that will enable us to efficiently meet customer demand in the region. We can also tap into an extensive service network that we will systematically enhance with digital solutions. In an initial stage, we aim to achieve revenue of around €500 million ($550 million) by 2022.”

DEUTZ said the Chinese engines market has grown steadily in recent years and the uptrend is set to continue for some years to come. “Growth of up to 5% is forecast in China’s construction equipment application segment in 2019, while in material handling it is set to be up to 10%.”

SANY 75 t excavator gaining traction in Africa mining market, GEM says

Goscor Earth Moving (GEM), part of the Goscor Group, has launched SANY’s SY75 excavator into the Africa mining market and received a positive response from the continent’s miners.

The SY75 is a primary loading tool for the mining industry, from open pit to alluvial diamond mining.

The 75 t excavator is ideal for loading blasted material onto articulated dump trucks (ADT), as well as for stripping top soil and free digging, according to Andre Steenkamp, General Manager of the SANY range under GEM. For example, the 4.2 m³ bucket allows a 40 t ADT to be loaded in less than seven passes.

GEM, which is the official distributor in Africa for SANY products, is already registering significant interest for the SY75, with the second unit to be imported from China already pre-sold prior to delivery. In addition, a major Zambia copper mine ordered four units on a trial basis. This has since led to another six units being ordered, GEM said.

“The SY75 will definitely carve a niche for itself in the market, due to its reliable power source and impeccable back-up from GEM,” Steenkamp said. The Isuzu 6 W G1X engine delivers a maximum torque of 2,138 Nm at 1,500 rpm.

In addition, the SY75 features a self-diagnostic system that flags technical issues quickly, reducing downtime.

The excavator has a maximum digging depth of 7,620 mm, and a maximum excavating distance of 12,050 mm. The maximum digging height is 11,200 mm, while the maximum dumping height is 7,250 mm. It has a 7 m boom and a 3 m arm, which translates into a bucket digging force of 402 kN and an arm digging force of 345 kN.

While the SANY brand is fairly new to the South Africa mining industry, especially in open-pit mining, Steenkamp expects the addition of the SY75 to allow GEM to offer complete solutions for its mining customers, no matter the size of the operation.

“SANY is on a par with well-known competitor brands when it comes to technology, but at a fraction of the price. It also innovates constantly, and will be launching two new products at Bauma China in Shanghai in November,” Steenkamp said.

SANY SY210C-9 excavator finds a new home in South Africa

South Africa’s Goscor Earthmoving Equipment (GEM) has welcomed the SANY SY210C-9 excavator into its range of small and large equipment for construction, mining, agriculture, sand and stone, forestry, roadworks, and plant hire sectors.

The 21 tonne machine features a six-cylinder in-line, water-cooled Cummins 6BT5.9-C140 engine, with a rated power of 140 hp (104 kW) at 2,000 rpm, and a maximum torque of 571 Nm at 1,300 rpm.

The engine is matched to the hydraulic system, thanks to the proprietary Dynamic Optimisation Matching Control System (DOMCS) developed by China’s SANY.

Andre Steenkamp, General Manager of the SANY range under GEM, said: “This advanced control system not only boosts operating efficiency by 6%, but furthermore slashes fuel consumption by 10%, which also goes a long way in reducing the total cost of ownership.”

The matched auto-idle speed function is designed for further increasing fuel efficiency, while ensuring maximum stability during idling for smooth operation, GEM, a SANY distributor, said.

“Variable working modes include heavy-duty, standard, light-duty, and break, which enhances the versatility of the excavator in different working environments.”

Additional “smart” features include an advanced GPRS monitoring system and machine alerts to allow for proactive monitoring of engine hours, fuel usage, and location history. The upgraded undercarriage has a unique X-shape structure for its lateral beams, providing extra strength and rigidity, excellent torsion, and bending resistance, according to the company.

SANY’s full range of plant and mining equipment includes excavators, graders, rigid dump trucks, wheel loaders, rollers, pavers, cranes, port machinery, pile driving and concrete pumps.

“The main differentiator for SANY in the local market is highly-competitive pricing for this global brand, supplemented by increased parts-holding and full in-field service and technical back-up through GEM’s national branch structure,” GEM said.
